An accessible service
Accessible service is more affordable than you think!
You’ve probably heard the popular myth that private schools and school residences are prohibitively expensive in Quebec. But what would you say if we told you that it could actually save you money? It may sound unbelievable, but it’s entirely possible!
First of all, you’d be entitled to a tax credit of between 26% and 75% based on your annual family income. Second, you’d undoubtedly spend less on food, activities, and other weekly purchases while your child is in residence. There’s no need to enroll them in a bunch of extracurricular activities or drive them from one place to another. In residence, your child will have the opportunity to participate in lots of extracurricular activities and develop their skills and interests without any involvement on your part.
How much does it cost?
Enrolling your child in a school residence is a gift that will last their entire life. But can you really afford it? Let’s crunch the numbers.
Tuition for a given school costs $9.44 per instructional day. Boarding costs for the residence come to $20.78 per instructional day. If you consider that the average family receives a 40% tax credit, boarding would only cost $12.47 per instructional day. That brings the total up to $21.91 per instructional day. So, for a year consisting of 180 school days, it would cost about $2,244.60 to send your child to a school residence.*
