More than “just teachers”
When you think about it, support staff members adopt the residence lifestyle just as much as the students do. Because they’re residents too, they make residence stimulating and fun while still maintaining a study-friendly environment.
These adults become significant figures in the students’ lives by sharing in their day-to-day activities and playing an active role in their schooling. Support staff members eventually take on the role of mentors, confidants and “big brothers or sisters.” They are there for the children and provide coaching, both for school and for life.
Often trained in special education, psychoeducation, teaching and other education-related fields, residence support staff members become an essential ingredient in the children’s development and satisfaction.
